About Secure World Travel

Know Before You Go

Professional security experience turned into practical guidance for everyday travellers and families.

Secure World Travel was created with a straightforward purpose: to help people think about their security before they travel — not after something has happened.

Why I created Secure World Travel

Security deserves a place on the travel preparation list.

When most of us prepare for a holiday or business trip, we think about passports, flights, accommodation, insurance and what to pack.

Throughout my professional security career, I learned that good security isn't simply about equipment. It starts with preparation, awareness and understanding your surroundings.

These principles inspired Secure World Travel: practical information that ordinary travellers and families can understand.

What risks could I encounter?

What can I do before travelling to reduce those risks?

What should I notice when I arrive somewhere unfamiliar?

What should I check before settling into my accommodation?

What would I do if something unexpected happened?

How can I better prepare the people travelling with me?

My background

More than 20 years across professional security and protective environments.

Horace Fleary's background includes British military service, professional boxing — including 3 German championships in 3 different weight classes — and more than 20 years across professional security and protective environments. Working within security teaches you to look at travel differently: observe your surroundings, identify vulnerabilities, prepare for what might go wrong and make decisions before a situation develops.

Security without fear

The objective isn't fear. It's preparation.

Security information should not make people frightened to travel. The purpose is the opposite: preparation, awareness and planning can help you make more informed decisions and respond more effectively.

From your front door — and back again

Travel security begins at home.

Security considerations continue through the airport, your journey, your destination and your accommodation — and they don't necessarily finish when your return flight lands.

The Secure World Travel Guide

I created the guide to bring these principles together in one practical resource. You don't need professional security experience. You simply need to be willing to prepare.

A message from the founder

I created Secure World Travel because I believe some of the principles I've learned through professional security can be useful to ordinary people when they travel.

You don't need to spend your holiday worrying about everything that could happen. But spending some time before you travel thinking about what you would do if something did happen can make you better prepared.

Read. Prepare. Stay aware. Enjoy your journey.

And remember: Know Before You Go.
